Marta Reig Torres born in Valencia, Spain is living in the Netherlands.

She has a Master in Choreography from Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam and Fontys School of Fine Arts in Tilburg.

Marta is a contemporary choreographer rooted in classical dance.

She started her career as a ballet dancer at the age of seventeen with The Dutch National Ballet, where she danced for 10-years. With this company she performed the works of many influential choreographers, such as George Balanchine, Martha Graham, Rudi van Dantzig, Hans van Manen, Maguy Marin, Jan Fabre, Eduard Lock and William Forsythe.

Afterward, she became a contemporary dancer and joined the Gulbenkian Ballet in Lisbon, Portugal. She returned to the Netherlands as a freelancer to dance with Leine & Roebana, Conny Janssen Danst, and Nicole Beutler Projects.

Merging her classical background with improvisation and other movement techniques has enabled her to research and experience dance from different angles that she can easily communicate to high skilled technical dancers. She started choreographing in 2002, in search of a more personal form of expression.

Marta sculpt dances that feel intimate by bringing the dancers to cutting-edge movement where new languages emerge from the familiar going into deeply personal landscapes.

At present, she is working as an independent choreographer. Her work has been broadcasted in the National Dutch TV. It has been produced by Korzo Productions and co-produced by Dansateliers, Danswerkplaats Amsterdam, Cadance Festival, De Doelen Rotterdam, Codarts, and MeekersIt has been selected several times for the Dutch Dance Festival ( Nederlandse Dans Dagen) as one of the most outstanding choreographies of the dance season in the Netherlands. She co-created Cloud & Danslab, a self-organized hub for independent artists in dance, performance, and related arts.

She also makes interdisciplinary dance installation performances, collaborating with visual artists, poets, vocal artists, filmmakers, and live-music making pieces in museums and creating location projects.

Her pieces travel internationally to different festivals and venues and have been performed in the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, France, and England.
